This achievement badge may only be purchased by an Adult Leader or Authorised Unit Representative.

The Pilot Wings Badge is presented by Scout Flying Schools and may be worn by qualified uniformed youth members.

Scouting members who have formal training and qualifications as a pilot can wear the Scout Wings on their uniform.

The following qualifications are considered valid:

  1. Recreational Pilot Licence or higher issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
  2. Recreational Pilot Certificate issued by Recreational Aviation Australia.
  3. Glider Pilot Certificate issued by the Gliding Federation of Australia or Glider Pilot Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
  4. Private Balloon Pilot Certificate issued by the Australian Ballooning Federation or Balloon Pilot Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
  5. Any qualification that allows the wearing of Pilot Wings in the Australian Defence Force.

Qualifications to operate drones or remotely piloted vehicles (RPV) do not authorise the wearing of Scout Wings To continue to wear Scout Wings the member must retain valid current qualifications.
