Lightweight Long Sleeve Uniform Shirt Youth

This new lightweight, sun-safe, long-sleeved uniform shirt has now been endorsed by the National Operations Committee as an approved uniform option for all members. 

Note that the youth version is plain navy blue - it does not have the section colours on it and it will only be available in plain navy going forward. As such, it is not commonly worn by youth members and parents should check with their Group before purchasing this option. If you want your child to match the rest of the kids in the Group, best to buy the short sleeve shirt option with the section colour shoulder panels.

Many youth members are buying the long sleeve as a second shirt for activities, sun protection or to cover their skin for religious reasons.

Note that there are no coloured shoulder panels for youth sized shirts - all long sleeve shirts are 100% navy blue.

The garment has been developed for Scouts Australia by Snowgum, a company with decades of experience in making adventure clothing. The fabric is particularly special. It is a super lightweight & breathable with a little bit of stretch, wicks moisture from your skin and dries super-fast. It is designed for use in hot conditions - well suited to our Australian warmer climates. It even has under-arm vent mesh to maximise air flow and keep you cool. It’s also great for camps as it will dry overnight and doesn’t require ironing.

Whilst it has fire retardancy added, it is lightweight and synthetic so, like all lightweight shirts on the market, it’s not particularly suited to campfires. It won’t ignite but an ember will put a hole in it.

This is the youth fit version, available in sizes Y4 through to Y14 - match the size to your current short sleeve uniform shirt for the right fit. This shirt is also available in mens fit S-5XL and in womens fit sizes 8-22.
