New Scout Record Books: What’s Changed for 2026

On 23 September 2026, the Achievement Pathways were updated to include a number of small but meaningful changes, more of which can be read about here. The Record Books have been updated to reflect these changes, while also making the books clearer and easier to use.

Key updates include:

  • Updated Scouting information – Introduction to Scouting, method and purpose pages have been refreshed with clearer content and new imagery.
  • Revised Achievement Pathways – Re-written with new graphics to make them easier to follow. The Outdoor Adventure Skills progressions required for Peak Awards has also been updated, with Stages 7, 8 and 9 also recognised as higher value.
  • Simplified Intro to Section – Now clearer and easier-to-read.
  • Updated Milestones – Milestones now have Participate and Lead levels only, with Assist removed. Participate requirements remain unchanged, while Lead requirements have increased across all three levels.
  • Personal Development – Leadership Courses are now presented as Personal Development.
  • Clearer Peak Award recording – Updated pages make progress easier to record.
  • Simplified Additional Awards – Pages are now easier to follow.
  • Expanded Camper and Walkabout recording – Pages now accommodate additional nights and kilometres.
  • Refreshed design – Easier-to-read text, new imagery throughout and new cover artwork.

The 2026 edition is the first major Record Book update since the books were introduced in 2019.
